Greene River Trail

Trail Location: Along the Monongahela River between Rices Landing and Jefferson Township (near Fredericktown-Millsboro)

Trail Length: 5.1 miles
Counties: Greene County, PA

Activities: Walking, Jogging, Biking
Trail Surface: crushed limestone and paved

Trail Description: This 5.1 is ideal for walking, running and biking. It is partially lined with wood-rail fencing and offers scenic views of the Mon River and surrounding wooded areas. Those who travel the trail will also be able to view several of the County’s coal communities and historical landmarks, such as the W.A. Young & Sons Foundry & Machine Shop in Rices Landing. The shop provided machine parts for steam boats and mine machinery, which is why its location on the Monongahela was so convenient. Subsequent phases to extend the Greene River Trail past Crucible are in the planning stages.

Parking & Trail Access: Parking is available at the two trail heads at Greene Cove Yacht Club outside of Fredericktown-Millsboro and Rices Landing Borough, across from Pumpkin Run Park.
