Last Thursday, Governor Corbett announced $38 million in Department of Conservation and Natural Resources grants for locally-driven projects to provide new recreational opportunities, expand protection of natural resources and improve communities. See a list of all the awards here.

Projects in the River Towns that received funding include the following:
- $150,000 for further development of the Sheepskin Trail, including construction of trail from Point Marion Borough to the WV state line, development of a comfort station at Point Marion Park, and landscaping.
- $75,000 for rehabilitation and improvement of the Union Street Wharf in California Borough, including making the dock ADA accessible, adding, lighting, signage, and landscaping.
- $40,000 for further development of Community Square in Fredericktown, East Bethlehem Township, including construction of a comfort station; installation of utilities; expansion of parking area; and ADA accessibility.
