Just Around the River’s Bend
The Northern Appalachian Network (NAN), a network of scholars, artists, and residents of the region, seeks to highlight the accomplishments, culture, and challenges of this often-neglected part of Appalachia. The Northern Appalachian region includes communities across Pennsylvania, Southern New York, Northern West Virginia, Northwestern Maryland, and Eastern Ohio. To advance our goals, we invite proposals to our one-day mini-conference: Just Around the River’s Bend.
We are interested in proposals for presentations from a variety of perspectives and disciplines that focus on water and the meaning and value of water to the Northern Appalachian Region, including its past, present, and future. Presentation formats can include:
- Short paper presentations (15-20 minutes)
- Long paper presentations (45 minutes)
- Academic poster presentations (printed or electronic)
- 15 minute fiction or non-fiction readings
- 15 minute Poetry readings
Please use the proposal guidelines on the following page and submit your materials by email to Dr. Pamela Twiss at twiss@calu.edu by July 15, 2015. All submissions will receive a blind review. Decisions regarding submissions will be made by July 30, 2015.
Registration for the conference is $45 (this includes lunch); all presenters must register prior to the conference.
A limited amount of space is available for those who would like to have an exhibit table for a nominal fee of $20. If you are interested in exhibiting, please contact Pamela Twiss for an exhibitor form at twiss@calu.edu (phone: 724-938-4053).
