TOWN SPOTLIGHT

Visit The Oldest Settlement in the Valley

The City of Monongahela was founded in 1769 on land at the confluence of Pigeon Creek and the Monongahela River, making it the oldest settlement in the Mon River Valley. The town has two ancient Native American burial grounds and was a key player in the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794. Today, Monongahela is home to one of the country’s only outdoor waterside auditoriums – The Monongahela Aquatorim which hosts a series of summer concerts dubbed “Rockin’ on The Mon,” fabulous fireworks, and a hauntingly fun October Witch Festival!
